The Roost Farm Shop is a gourmet market and self-serve wine bar opening on Route 151 in Nellysford, Virginia. This page explains what we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have kept it in plain English.
What we collect
At the moment this site is a single coming soon page, so there is very little to collect.
- Your email address, and only if you choose to type it into the signup box.
- Basic technical information that nearly every website records automatically, such as browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and which pages were viewed and when. This is standard server and analytics data and is not used to identify you personally.
We do not ask for your name, address, phone number or payment details anywhere on this site.
Why we collect it
We use your email address for one purpose: to tell you when we open, and to share occasional news about tastings, events, and what is on the shelves. Nothing else.
Who else sees it
Your email address is held by our website platform, Squarespace, and by the email service that sends our newsletters on our behalf. Both are required to handle it securely and may only use it to provide those services to us.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or pass it to advertisers. We would only disclose it if the law required us to.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies needed for it to work and to count how many people visit. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time and the site will still function.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe whenever you like. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it takes effect immediately.
- Ask what we hold. Email us and we will tell you.
- Ask us to delete it. Email us and we will remove you from our list.
If you live in Virginia, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act gives you the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and to appeal if we decline a request. We will honour these requests wherever you live.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. As a business that will serve alcohol, parts of our future website will be intended for those of legal drinking age.
Changes to this policy
As the shop opens and the website grows this policy will need updating, for instance once we begin taking orders or selling gift cards. When it changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
